Central Europe Route: Vienna, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest – Prices 2020

A trip through Central Europe includes Austria (Vienna), the Czech Republic (Prague), Slovakia (Bratislava), and Hungary (Budapest), four of the most beautiful cities in Europe and some of the cheapest on the continent.

For this route, ten days are recommended, and if you have more time, you can extend it until you reach Berlin by train or bus via Dresden, as shown in the following map.

Travel tip. Both Prague and Budapest have international airports, so they are easily accessible by air. While if you were interested in connecting it with more destinations, you could go up to Poland or Germany from Prague or go down to Serbia from Budapest.

Stop 1. Budapest

Budapest is a unique and very peculiar city because it occupies both banks of the Danube, thus unifying the cities of Buda and Pest. It is one of the cheapest and most beautiful capitals in Europe, being the most important transport, financial, commercial, and industrial center of Hungary.

How to go from Budapest to Bratislava?


The best way to get from Budapest, Hungary, to Bratislava, Slovakia, is by bus. The journey takes approximately three hours and costs 8 euros. Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is one of the unique cities in the world, as it borders two countries: Austria and Hungary. How to go from Bratislava to Vienna?

The journey from Vienna to Prague can be done by bus for 15 euros and is about six hours of travel. Flixbus offers the service. However, if you don’t want to spend so much time traveling, for 19 euros, you can make the train journey in 4 hours.
